BRAWLEY — A single-vehicle rollover south of this city Wednesday left the driver injured and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Francisco Ramirez, 72, of Desert Shores was driving north on Highway 111 north of Mead Road when he allowed his pickup to drift onto the dirt shoulder about 6 p.m.

A California Highway Patrol press release states Ramirez lost control of his vehicle and it crossed the highway and rolled on the west shoulder.

Ramirez was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley with moderate injuries. There was no information this morning on his condition or whether he remained at the hospital.

The press release states Ramirez was arrested. However, he had not been booked into the county jail as of presstime.

There were no passengers in the pickup and no other vehicles involved in the accident.

The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
