Police arrest man who allegedly fired several shots at Calexico residence

CALEXICO — Police here have arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly firing shots at a home in what authorities are calling a gang-related attack.

Calexico resident Edgar Jaramillo Vega was booked into the county jail on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling after being taken into custody about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Police alleged Vega drove up to a residence in the 1100 block of Milpitas Street and opened fire on the house Wednesday morning.

No one was injured in the shooting.

When police arrived they determined six to eight shots were fired at the home.

Vega was reportedly identified by the residents as the gunman.

Police have alleged the shooting was related to a gang dispute.

Vega remained in jail this morning with his bail set at $50,000.
