As a parent I am asking the El Centro Elementary school board and superintendent to soften their stance against the teachers and not force a strike.
I would like the children to receive the uninterrupted education they deserve and the teachers receive the respect they deserve.
Teachers have not had a contract for two years. Instead of a raise in salary they were forced this year to pay for part of their insurance.
I doubt that administrators, principals or the school board members pay for any of their health insurance. School board members are elected and therefore can be replaced and superintendents usually end up leaving the Valley, but we all (families and teachers) are left here to pick up the pieces and clean up the mess.
Maybe we parents should not wait to pick up the pieces. Maybe we parents should get together and keep our children home instead of the teachers striking. Maybe then someone will finally listen to us.
