Supervisors to consider 3-year, $150K audit contract

The county Board of Supervisors will consider awarding a three-year audit contract to Hutchinson & Bloodgood of El Centro for $155,000.

The fee breaks down to $49,500 for the period ending June 30, 2001; $51,500 for 2002 and $54,000 for 2003.

The next lowest bid was $231,415, followed by a bid of $294,000.

The board meets in open session at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the County Administration Center, 940 W. Main St., El Centro.

In other business, the board:

· will consider renewing its contract with meteorologist Jim Christopherson for weather forecasting services. The county and the Imperial Irrigation District have been splitting the $60,000 contract.

· will consider a request by the county Department of Social Services to hire 24 new employees, including six staff services analysts, three social workers, five social service assistants, seven office assistants and two eligibility workers.


A county staff report says the yearly cost is $782,574 to be paid by state and federal funds.

· will be asked to authorize the Valley of Imperial Development Alliance to seek a $60,000 federal grant from the Economic Development Administration for economic development planning assistance.

· will be asked to set June 26 for a public hearing to consider adopting revisions to local procedures for issuing permits for sources that are subject to the federal Clean Air Act.
