The county Board of Supervisors, without comment, awarded a three-year audit contract to Hutchinson & Bloodgood of El Centro for $155,000.
The fee includes $49,500 for the period ending June 30, 2001; $51,500 for 2002 and $54,000 for 2003.
The next lowest bid was $231,415, followed by a bid of $294,000.
The board also approved an extension of a five-year contract with Jim Christopherson for weather forecasting services. The county and the Imperial Irrigation District have been splitting the $60,000 annual contract.
In other business, Supervisor Hank Kuiper read a letter by supervisors Chairman Tony Tirado regarding the recent death of Mrs. Maria Cristina Ramos de Hermosillo, the late first lady of Mexicali. In his letter, Tirado urges people to contribute to Hermosillo's Villa Esperanza project, which provides street children of Mexicali with housing and care.
The letter says donations can be sent to the project's account at Fundación Villa Esperanza 2000, Bital Bank #401415. Checks also can be made out in the name of Imperial County, with a notation that they are intended for Hermosillo, and sent to the attention of the County Auditor, 940 W. Main St., El Centro, CA 92243.
