Narcotic Task Force arrests five, seizes various drugs

CALEXICO — Imperial County Narcotic Task Force agents this week arrested five suspects and seized various drugs in a collaborative effort with several law enforcement agencies.

A press release from the NTF states, Eugene Para, 25, Jesus Villareal, 45, Susan Leyva, 19, Victor Gonzalez, 21, and Martin Limon, 36, all of Calexico, were arrested on suspicion of various infractions.

The press release states NTF was assisted in its enforcement operation by the Imperial County Probation Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Brawley and Calexico police departments, county District Attorney's Office, county Sheriff's Office, U.S. Customs Service, U.S. Forest Service, California Bureau of Investigations, Imperial County Child Protective Services and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Agents seized about 1 ounce of methamphetamine, 1 and a half pounds of marijuana in addition to drug paraphernalia during the operation.

Four of the individuals were arrested on suspicion of narcotic violations and one for driving under the influence.

Para and Villareal were released from the county jail, according to information from the Sheriff's Office. Leyva was still in custody as of presstime. Information on Leyva's bail was not available.

Information on Gonzalez and Limon was not available this morning.
