CALEXICO — Trustees of the Heffernan Memorial Hospital District board could take a step forward this week to provide medical services at the Calexico Hospital building, closed since late 1997.
On Wednesday the trustees will look over, and possibly approve, a form letter, titled "request for proposals," that will be sent to various media outlets to publicize the district's intention to work with independent operators.
This form letter will be the second outreach effort planned by the district board.
The board has approved sending letters to various clinics and doctors that have expressed interest in working in the building.
The district board has not reported firm offers from any clinic or doctor willing to work in the hospital building.
