Thank You: Letter carriers' food driver kudos

June 06, 2001

On behalf of its executive board, the Imperial Valley Food Bank would like to thank Imperial Valley residents and the U.S. post offices in Brawley, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial and Westmorland for their support during the letter carrier food drive on May 12.

We would like to applaud the great effort that the letter carriers provided during the food drive that collected a total of 5,183 pounds of food. Your efforts make a big difference in the Imperial Valley Food Bank's ability to provide food to the hungry in Imperial County.

We also want to thank Central Union High School and the Westmorland 4-H club for their food drives. Central Union students collected about 900 pounds of food while the Westmorland 4-H club contributed 50 pounds of food.

We want to thank all the Postal Service employees who took time off their busy schedules to plan and organize this event. Without you the food drive would never happen.

There is a huge demand for food by the needy in the Imperial County. Together we can make a big difference in assuring that the needy in our communities will have food to eat.

Thank you again for your support.
