The inaugural Imperial Valley Football Coaches Association all-star senior football game/coaches and players hall of fame induction on June 1 was more than a huge success. An undertaking like this could only succeed as the result of a lot of hard work, contributions and generous donations by a lot of individuals and businesses.
Most notably I want to thank: Brandt Cattle Co. for the donations of the half of beef for the drawing; the Imperial Valley Football Officials Association for volunteering to work the game; the Imperial Unified School District for the use of the facilities; Boyd Rose, Raoul Almera, the maintenance and field crews at Imperial High School for the great job in preparing the field; Dr. Joe Rocamora and Dr. George Fareed for volunteering to be the game doctors; coach John Romero and John Green for being the EMTs in attendance the Imperial County Fire Department for the crew and engine in attendance; Diane Self for the photography; Her-Jones Corp. and the Imperial Irrigation District for their donations; KICO, John Moreno and Vic Carrillo for broadcasting the game; Jon Dale for the P.A. work; Lyndell Dale for running the time and scoreboard; Eddie Simpson for the videography; Betty Acosta, Joe Hanna, Victor Lopez, Kerry Legarra and all the IVFCA members who worked the game; Victor Cruz, Cody Swearingen and the Imperial Police Department for game security; all of the inductees for not only being there but also the memories; all of you fans who came out to watch; the players on both squads; and lastly BUT most importantly to Curt and Suzanne Rutherford for all of their personal help leading up to and during the ceremonies. Great job, everyone!
