The county Coroner's Office is investigating the Saturday death of an El Centro man as a possible drug overdose, county Coroner Investigator Gary Hayes said this morning.
Joseph Hernandez, 26, was found in a Motel 6 room by his companions about 8 a.m. Saturday after the group had reportedly been having a party there the night before.
Hayes said while the death is being investigated as an overdose, a final cause of death will not be available until toxicology tests are reviewed. It could take two weeks to a month to receive those results.
Hayes said the victim's companions were not "especially cooperative" and would not tell authorities if the group had been using narcotics during the party.
