IMPERIAL — Two Brawley residents escaped serious injury in a vehicle collision at the corner of Worthington and McConnell roads east of Imperial.

A press release from the California Highway Patrol states vehicles driven by Susan K. Casey, 42, and Robert Salazar, 38, collided at the intersection around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Casey was traveling west on Worthington Road in a sedan and approaching McConnell Road at a speed of 55 to 66 mph as Salazar was heading south on McConnell Road in a pickup.

Salazar reported he stopped his truck at the stop sign at the intersection, looked both ways and told officers he saw no vehicles coming.

Casey told officers she saw Salazar look in her direction and she continued west but Salazar drove into her path.

Casey applied the brakes of her car and swerved right to avoid hitting Salazar's truck.

The left front of Casey's vehicle struck the left rear of Salazar's truck.

Salazar received a minor laceration to his forehead.

Casey said she would seek her own medical aid if needed.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
