On Thursday, May 17, over 300 eighth- to 12th-grade math students from Brawley, Calexico, El Centro, Holtville and Calipatria participated in the Imperial Valley College Math Festival.
Competing in categories ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, students prepared themselves to best represent their respective schools. Congratulations to all students for a job well done!
The organization of this event began over six months ago with the help of school representatives to include Robert Rhoades, Juan Orduña, Dolores Bezies, Mary Love, Dan Myers, Sam Faulk, Joyce Sullivan, Danny Batista, Frances Pond and Elisa Ramirez. Not only that, but many other teachers volunteered their time throughout the school year to prepare their teams for the Math Festival.
In addition teachers from each school, together with many IVC faculty, staff, and students, gave generously of their time on the day of the competition to prepare classrooms, carry out contests and judge competitions. Thank you all for devoting your time and energy to make the Math Festival a success!
