IMPERIAL — Three Imperial High School students here suffered minor injuries after the vehicle in which they were traveling overturned on Highway 86 south of Second Street here on Thursday.
Imperial police Officer Gilbert Castro said three 16- and 17-year-old girls were on their way to lunch in El Centro about 12:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. Their identities were not available from police because of their ages.
Witnesses told police the girls were traveling south on the highway at a high rate of speed. The driver tried to switch lanes but lost control and ended up in an embankment west of the highway, Castro said.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof.
The girls were treated and released Thursday from El Centro Regional Medical Center.
