Brawley teens roll Jeep on Huff Road, suffer cuts, bruises

June 16, 2001

IMPERIAL — Because they were strapped into their seats and protected by a sturdy rollbar, two Brawley teens could tell California Highway Patrol officers what caused the Jeep in which they were traveling Saturday morning to roll numerous times on Huff Road west of here.

The driver of the Jeep, 18-year-old Randall Lackey, and his passenger, Mark Sonico, 16, were traveling north on Huff around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a CHP press release.

Lackey ran the Jeep off the east shoulder and attempted to drive it back onto the road.

This caused the Jeep to roll across the north and south lanes of Huff and come to rest on the west shoulder.

The teens were transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center and treated for cuts and bruises.
