Free financial classes

Consumer Credit Counseling Service's Imperial Valley office will be offering two free financial education classes this month.

The first class on "understanding your own credit" will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A class on "basic budgeting techniques" will be from 10 to 11 a.m. June 30, both at 370 Aurora Drive, Suite A in El Centro.

Solar energy forum

The Green Party of Imperial Valley will host a forum on solar energy and how it can and is being used in the Imperial Valley." The forum is designed to help create a community dialogue on energy issues and bring viable energy solutions to the Imperial Valley.

The forum will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Room 2131 on the Imperial Valley College campus. The program will feature speakers from the Imperial Irrigation District as well as local vendors and users of solar energy.


Mike Jaramillo, energy marketing supervisor for IID, will lead a panel discussion. Michael Gohl, a solar products vendor, and Preston Arrow-weed, a local solar energy user, will participate.
