Belt buckles, cups commemorating water's arrival in Valley available

June 23, 2001

California Women for Agriculture, Imperial County chapter recently unveiled a limited edition commemorative belt buckle that celebrates 100 years of water in the Imperial Valley.

All proceeds from the sales will begin to fund the development of a large gallery in Pioneers' Museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of agriculture in Imperial County.

The buckle is a two-dimensional oval brass design depicting the delivery of water from a canal and large drop with water frothing at the bottom. It features the words "Celebrating 100 Years of Water — Imperial County — 1901-2001."

A $50 donation to the Imperial County Historical Society's commemorative buckle will begin the process and a buckle will be delivered to your home or place of business shortly. Mail orders to: Alexa Westmoreland, 2205 Westmoreland Road, Imperial, CA 92251.
