I want to personally thank the class of 2001, their parents, teachers and everyone who helped make their graduation so special to me.
I had dreaded this moment for three years. All the anticipation, watching all of you grow up, getting your driver's licenses and going to dances has made me very happy but also very sad. You have all been a very big part of my life. All those hugs have meant the world to me.
At first when I was approached to attend graduation, I didn't want to be a part of it. I guess I just wasn't sure. I talked to Linda Baker (Kris' mom), and she said this was the last thing I would ever get to do for Jeff and that it would be a happy memory. Well, it was.
The song you sang, "Time of Your Life," as you know, was Jeff's song. Don't think for a minute I didn't hear all of you tell Jeff you love him after you sang. I'll never forget all your hugs as you were in line to receive your diploma. At the time I wanted to tell all of you that I love you, but it wasn't the right time. So I am going to say it now. I love you all and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
