JAMES D. "JIM" STEWART

No formal services will be conducted for James D. "Jim" Stewart, 73, of Brawley, who died Sunday in Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.

His burial will be under private family disposition.

Mr. Stewart was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Redlands. He moved with his family to Brawley as a young boy. He attended local schools and graduated from Brawley Union High School.

After his schooling, he served in the U.S. Army in Japan for three years, then was re-called in 1950 and served in San Francisco for a year.

Mr. Stewart returned home and worked as a plumber for his father's business, Stewart Plumbing, for many years. In 1975, he began working as a plumber for Imperial County, retiring in 1988. He last worked for his nephew Jim O'Malley for seven years.

He was a member of the Brawley Elks Lodge and American Legion Brawley Post 60.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Stewart of Brawley; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Susan Stewart of Waco, Texas, and Kirk and Kathleen Stewart of Brawley; daughters and sons-in-law, Karol and Stan Brummett, Lisa and Joey Sanders and Jana and Corky Wycuff, all of Brawley; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Charles O'Malley of Brawley; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to the Brawley Elks Lodge, P.O. Box 1299, Brawley, CA 92227.
