Fauvette "Babe" Watts

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Fauvette "Babe" Watts, 87, of Brawley, who died Monday in San Diego Hospice.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley. The Rev. Joe Finnell of Calipatria Community Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Watts was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Giltner, Neb. She was raised in Wyoming and came to the Imperial Valley as a teen-ager. She attended schools in Calipatria, graduated from Calipatria High School in 1931 and earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Redlands.

She married William Lamar "Buck" Watts in Yuma on Dec. 23, 1939, and they made their home in Brawley. The couple owned and operated the Brawley Appliance and Paint Store from 1947 to 1985.

She was a member of Christian Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 1, 1996.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Gail and Walter Lucchesi of Garden Grove and Jennifer and Dick Tripp of El Cajon; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Emilee Watts of San Diego, Chester Watts of Brawley and Ann Watts of Bermuda Dunes; brothers, Otis Thompson of Bakersfield and Robert Thompson of Carlsbad; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to San Diego Hospice, 4311 3rd Ave., San Diego, CA 92103-1407.

LINDA A. RUSSEL

Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Christ Community Church in El Centro for Linda A. Russel, 43, of El Centro, who died of cancer Monday in El Centro Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Walter Colace will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Russel was born June 16, 1958, in El Centro and was a lifelong resident of the Imperial Valley. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in El Centro, graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro in 1976 and attended Long Beach City College, where she was a Theta Sigma Phi sorority member.

She married Doug Russel in El Centro.

Mrs. Russel was a member of Christ Community Church.

Survivors include her husband, Doug Russel of El Centro; parents, Emil and Shirley Lerno of El Centro; mother-in-law and spouse, Mary Ann and Jerry Whitmer of El Centro; children, Brock and Blake Russel, both of El Centro; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Jerrie Lerno of El Centro; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Myron Fortin of Imperial; niece, Shavonne Fortin; and nephews, David Hartsock, Elliott Fortin and Skylar Lerno.

The family suggests donations to the Linda Russel memorial fund at Christ Community Church in El Centro or the charity of your choice.

NICOLASA GONZALEZ-ZAMORA

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday in Jardin de la Esperanza in Mexicali for Nicolasa Gonzalez-Zamora, 79, of El Centro, who died Sunday in Valley Convalescent Center in El Centro. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday in Jardin de la Esperanza. The Rev. Gerardo Fernandez of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Calexico will officiate.

Burial will be in Jardin de la Esperanza cemetery.

Mrs. Gonzalez-Zamora was born April 23, 1922, in Comala, Colima, Mexico. She married Salvador Zamora in Comala and came to the Imperial Valley in 1945 with her son, Salvador Zamora.

She worked cultivating fields throughout the Imperial Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Zamora, in April 1978.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Salvador G. and Romelia S. Zamora of El Centro; daughter, Leticia Sandoval of Tijuana; sisters, Carmen Saad of Colima, Consuelo Gonzalez of Mexicali and Esther Gonzalez of Norwalk; grandchildren, Patricia Hernandez of El Centro, Salvador S. Zamora of San Diego, Elvira S. Zamora of El Centro and Cristian Castillo of Tijuana; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

CRAIG KNIGHT

No services will be conducted for Craig Knight, 46, of Ocean Beach, who died of heart failure June 18 in his home.

Mr. Knight was born Oct. 29, 1954, in Brawley. He was the son of A.J. and Helen Knight. He graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro in 1973, attended Imperial Valley College, graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from San Diego State University and earned a master's degree in international business from United States International University.

Survivors include his parents, A.J. and Helen Knight of El Centro; sister and brother-in-law, Nancie and Jody Yarbro of Valley Mills, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Sophia Knight of Chula Vista; niece and nephew, Jackie and Matthew Knight, both of Chula Vista; aunt and uncle, Nell and Darwin Cohee of Brawley; and numerous cousins.
