A San Diego man sustained minor injuries when he swerved to avoid a flying object and his car overturned while he was traveling east on Interstate 8 about 10 a.m. Friday.
Edward Samson Tubao, 37, told the California Highway Patrol he was driving east on the interstate when he saw an object flying toward him.
He swerved to avoid being hit by it, lost control of his car and rolled his vehicle, according to Sgt. Mike Berger of the California Highway Patrol.
Tubao was wearing his seat belt when the accident occurred and was not speeding, said Berger.
Berger said the object was the plastic tailgate section of a pickup bed liner.
Tubao complained of pain in his left shoulder, neck and back.
He was transported to the El Centro Regional Medical Center. No information on his status was available from the hospital by presstime Saturday.
