IVC loses fall phone registration data from Friday

July 04, 2001

A computer systems failure at Imperial Valley College on Friday resulted in the loss of fall registration data for anyone who used IVC's telephone registration system that day.

"We are asking that anyone who used the automated telephone registration system to please register again," said Victor Jaime, vice president for student services.

"This applies to Friday, June 29 only," Jaime said. "All other days are fine."

A team of IVC staff has been assembled to contact anyone who had a registration appointment that day.

"We hope to reach many people that way," Jaime said.

However, because of the data loss, the college has no record of any student with an earlier registration date who used the system Friday or students who may have called that day to drop classes or otherwise change their schedules.

The registration system and its help line will be closed today for the Fourth of July holiday.

The system will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday. Its regular hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

Telephone registration for the fall semester began June 25 and will continue through July 27.

Students with questions may call the registration help line at 335-6220.
