A 19-year-old El Centro man died early Saturday after he was stabbed, and police are investigating whether the stabbing was tied to a party the man had been to prior to his death.

Adrian Reyes was found by a passerby as he lay bleeding along Scott Avenue west of Imperial Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m.

He was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he died from his wounds before 4 a.m.

El Centro police Lt. Paul Longoria said there were few details to release because it is early in the investigation.

As of noon Saturday, police had interviewed 12 people, and more were expected to be interviewed throughout the day. No arrests had been made as of presstime Saturday night.

Longoria said police think Reyes was at a party in the 800 block of Euclid Avenue and may have been walking home when he was stabbed in the upper body.

Longoria declined to say specifically in what part of the body Reyes was stabbed, citing the investigation.

Police were unsure where the stabbing occurred.

The stabbing of Reyes came just shy of a week after another 19-year-old man was stabbed to death. Police have yet to make an arrest in that case but have issued a warrant for the arrest of a suspect in connection with that case.

Longoria said there is no connection between the two stabbings.
