The body of a man was found in the New River near the Lake View golf course south of Seeley Wednesday, and authorities said they are trying to determine the identity of the man.

Imperial County Coroner Investigator Rick Williams said at 2:32 p.m. authorities received a call about the death.

He said the body did not appear to have any signs of foul play. An autopsy will be conducted on Saturday to determine the cause of death.

The body was found by a resident of the golf course, Williams said.

In a separate incident, the body of Loven R. Starkey, 49, was found on the floor of a room he rented in the Roberta Hotel in El Centro at about 12: 45 p.m. Monday.

There were no obvious signs of foul play, Williams said.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday and investigators are waiting for toxicology reports to determine the cause of death.

Starkey lived at the hotel.
