Voice: Toys for Tots coming to Brawley

July 12, 2001

The Hidalgo Society has been in contact with the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma with the mutual goal of starting a Toys for Tots program in the Brawley area.

The Toys for Tots program was started by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and has been implemented throughout the United States. Toys for Tots would allow a child who would not have a gift for Christmas to receive a toy.

The collection may vary. A business could afford its customers and employees the opportunity to donate new, unwrapped toys. Any organization or business that has Christmas parties could use this occasion to collect new unwrapped toys. Organizations could organize a Toys for Tots Run and collect new, unwrapped toys as the entry fee. Marines could be invited to attend the functions.

Please join the U.S. Marine Corps and the Hidalgo Society in this worthy cause. It is anticipated that all will be in place to bring Toys for Tots to the Brawley area this upcoming Christmas. Any business, organization, or individual that would like to be part of Toys for Tots may contact the Hidalgo Society at 344-3700.
