Dorel Arguilez

No services will be conducted for Dorel Arguilez, 67, of Imperial, who died Monday in his home.

His remains will be cremated.

Mr. Arguilez was born Dec. 2, 1933 in El Centro and was raised in Imperial. He attended schools in Imperial and then attended college in Los Angeles.

Mr. Arguilez served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he returned to the Imperial Valley and began farming in Imperial.

Mr. Arguilez married Celia Valenzuela on July 20, 1957, in Imperial, where the couple resided ever since. He last worked in a geothermal plant, retiring in 1998.


He enjoyed working on his family farm and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, according to family.

Survivors include his wife, Celia Arguilez of Imperial; daughters, Sally Faye Arguilez-Smith and Lillian Arguilez, both of San Diego; son, Dorel Arguilez III of San Diego; grandchildren, Abel Arguilez, Jessica Arguilez-Baris and Thomas and Celia Arguilez-Smith, all of San Diego; and four brothers and two sisters.


A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday in Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside for Julia Garcia-Muñoz, 83, of Carlsbad, who died Wednesday in Scripps Hospital in Encinitas.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oakhill Memorial Mortuary in San Jose.

Mrs. Muñoz was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Brawley. She married Pedro Muñoz. in Brawley, moved to San Jose in 1961 and relocated to Carlsbad in 1995, where she resided with her daughter, Dolores Yslava. She was a homemaker.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, according to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Muñoz, in 1991; and daughter, Gloria Enriquez in 1997.

Survivors include her daughter, Dolores Yslava of Carlsbad; sons, Pete and Victor Muñoz, both of San Jose; sisters, Esperanza Guerrero of Los Angeles and Angie Garcia, Trine Palma and Mary Villegas, all of Brawley; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
