Albert T. Soto

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Albert T. Soto, 73, of Imperial, who died Thursday in El Centro. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brawley. The Rev. Ben Davison of Sacred Heart will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Soto was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Calipatria.

He married Rose L. San Roman on May 1, 1949, in Niland.

Mr. Soto was raised in the Imperial Valley and attended Calipatria High School, where he was a running back for the football team from 1945-47. He was also a member of the high school band in which he played drums.

Mr. Soto enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1947-49 as a mechanic.

After serving in the military, he worked in construction as a flooring contractor for 20 years. His family said he loved listening to music by Glen Miller.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Soto, on Sept. 26, 1995; daughter, Brenda Rodriguez, in 1988; and grandson, Timmy Rodriguez, in 1999.

Survivors include his daughters, Lilly Belandres of San Diego and Zina Evans of Hemet; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Joe Noriega of Brawley; sons, Anthony "Corky" Soto of Brawley and Frankie Soto of Imperial; brothers, Quirino T. Soto Jr. of Yuba City, Ray T. Soto and Lupe T. Soto, both of Marysville, and Joe T. Soto of Las Vegas; sisters, Isabel Hill, Terry Guadarrama and Irma Mejia, all of Yuba City, Bertha Johnson, Diane Richardson and Eva Rivera, all of Marysville, and Rose T. Soto of Colusa; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
