HOLTVILLE — U.S. Border Patrol agents this morning found the body of a man thought to have been an undocumented immigrant.
The body was found at 4:18 a.m. about 150 yards southeast of the end of Verde School Road south of Holtville, according to county Coroner Investigator Rick Williams.
There were no signs of foul play and authorities are investigating to determine whether the man died from heat exposure.
The man is thought to have been 35 years old. Identification was found with the body but the name of the victim was not released this morning. U.S. authorities were working with the Mexican consulate in Calexico to notify family of the death.
Williams said the area where the body was found is known to be heavily traveled by illegal immigrants.
