Council expected to appoint Mazeroll successor

IMPERIAL — The City Council here is expected tonight to appoint a successor to City Councilman Tom Mazeroll, whose resignation from the council became effective Tuesday.

The council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall at 420 S. Imperial Ave.

Mazeroll resigned from the council after he purchased a home outside the city limits. An Imperial city ordinance requires council members live within the city limits.

Mazeroll was elected to office in 1994, served a four-year term and was re-elected in 1998.

City officials said four people have applied for the council position. Their names were unavailable at presstime.

Mazeroll's unexpired term runs until the next general election in November 2002.
