CALEXICO — Imperial County Narcotic Task Force agents seized 511 pounds of marijuana and made two arrests here yesterday.

According to an NTF agent, Saul Andress Russell Sanchez, 44, and Jesus Josefina Ramirez, 40, both of Mexicali, were arrested for conspiracy and furnishing marijuana with attempt to transport.

The agent said agents received an assistance call from the Calexico Police Department about 2:15 p.m.

Police officers told agents there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from a warehouse in the 100 block of West Cole Road.

Agents obtained a warrant and searched the warehouse. They found 60 boxes full of marijuana inside the warehouse.

The tenant at the warehouse told NTF agents Ramirez and Sanchez were going to pick up the boxes in a truck. When the two arrived, they were arrested.

NTF agents don't know where or who brought the marijuana to the warehouse but are still investigating.

Ramirez and Sanchez were being held in the county jail today with bail set at $25,000
