The newly created Imperial Valley Street Interdiction Team, made up of officers from the Calexico, El Centro and Brawley police departments, arrested two El Centro residents for possession of methamphetamine for sales Thursday.

A press release from SIT stated Oscar Aguilar, 37, and Robert Kadry, 32, were arrested for possessing 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and drug sales paraphernalia.

According to the press release, SIT agents were working an enforcement detail in El Centro about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when they saw Aguilar walk up to a mini-market in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue.

Aguilar stood outside the market for about five minutes and did not enter. Agents became suspicious of Aguilar's behavior.

The press release states Kadry drove up in a car, waited for Aguilar to get into the car and drove off.

Agents followed the car until it stopped at the Pico Market at the corner of Eighth Street and Pico Road in El Centro.

Agents decided to interview the men after Aguilar got out of the car.

The methamphetamine was found in Aguilar's possession. Agents also found narcotics paraphernalia consistent with sales inside the car.

Aguilar and Kadry were arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and conspiracy.

They were being held at the county jail Saturday with bail set at $15,000 each.
