August 04, 2001

During opening ceremonies for the San Diego Padres' Imperial Valley Day on Aug. 14, El Centro resident Anthony Longoria will sing the national anthem at Qualcomm Stadium.

Longoria is a 1999 graduate of Southwest High School in El Centro and will attend La Sierra University in Riverside this fall.

While a student of the Southwest Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, he starred in several SAVAPA productions. He also has performed with the Imperial Valley Master Chorale and the Imperial Valley College Chamber Singers.
