BRAWLEY — Two City Council members here will be running unopposed for re-election in November.

Brawley City Clerk Janet Smith said two City Council seats are up for election Nov. 6, and councilmen Steve Vasquez and John Benson are the two members whose terms expire this year.

Vasquez and Benson registered for re-election before the deadline Friday afternoon. No one signed up to run against the incumbents.

Vasquez has served two four-year terms on the council and Benson has served one.

Smith said she will check today the signatures on petitions turned in by Benson and Vasquez of voters supporting their candidacies.
