Punt, Pass and Kick

The Imperial County Sheriff's Activities League is sponsoring the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition at 7 a.m. Sept. 15 at Southwest High School in El Centro. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15. Entry forms are available at local Sheriff's Office stations as well as Driscoll's Sports in El Centro. The SAL also is looking for coaches for its upcoming flag football season. For more information on coaching call 339-0113.

Cheer camp 2001

The Imperial Valley Pop Warner Football Association will hold a cheerleading camp at noon Aug. 25-26 in the Lions Center in Brawley for girls ages 5-15. For more information call 355-4872.

Holtville football camp

The Holtville Vikings Touchdown Club will sponsor its third non-contact football camp Monday through Friday at Holtville High School. The camp will run from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $25 and the camp is open to children in grades 2-8. For more information call Jim Sturgeon at 356-4284 or Betty Acosta at 356-4904.


Southwest girls golf


The Southwest High School girls golf team will be meeting at 3 p.m. Monday in room 40 on the Southwest High campus in El Centro. Girls interested in joining the golf team must have a clearance card. For more information call Greg Sackos at 336-4200.

Winter softball league sign-ups

The Imperial Valley Girls Softball League is having sign-ups for its winter league from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday in August. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon each Saturday in August. Games will start Sept. 18. For more information call George Moses at 352-6551.

Central Union fall sports clearance

All Central Union High School students interested in participating in a fall sport must pick up a clearance packet from the ASB window. The packets will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Thursday. Players must be cleared before practice starts.

Central practice times

Practice for Central Union High School athletics will start Thursday. Football will begin at 6 a.m. on the football field, cross country at 6 a.m. at Bucklin Park, volleyball at 8 a.m. in the gym and girls tennis at 9 a.m. on the tennis courts. Girls golf will begin at a date and time to be determined.

Brawley Union fall sports starts

Any Brawley Union High School student interested in participating in a fall sport should report to that sport Thursday. Football will begin at 6 a.m. on the physical education field, volleyball at 9 a.m. in the gym, girls tennis at 6:30 p.m. on the tennis courts and cross country at 7 p.m. on the junior varsity baseball field. Girls golf starts at 4 p.m. Monday at the Del Rio Country Club.

BUHS Athletic Boosters meeting

Brawley Union High School's Athletic Boosters will have their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the school cafeteria. Plans for the upcoming football season and organizing concessions will be discussed. For more information call Joe or Helen Noriega at 344-6744.

Raiders Booster Club


The Imperial Valley Raiders Booster Club is accepting applications for the 2001 season. The first club meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in Waves restaurant in Brawley. Cost is $20 for a single membership and $35 for a family. For more information call 344-8464 or 312-8864.

IVC volleyball practice

Imperial Valley College volleyball practice will begin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the college gym. Anyone interested in playing should attend.

football practice

All prospective William Moreno Junior High football players should report at 8 a.m. Thursday to room 37 .

Holtville Touchdown Club

The Holtville Viking Touchdown Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in room 25 of Holtville High. All interested parents and community members are invited to attend. The club is looking for a flag football director for the upcoming season. For more information call Betty Acosta at 356-4904.
