Imperial County Sheriff's Office investigators released the name of the driver involved in a triple-fatal accident Wednesday.

Sheriff's Investigator Jesse Lopez said Robert Allen, 22, was the driver of the mini-van involved in the accident at 5:05 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 8.

Allen and the other two men who died, Mark Anthony Gonzalez, 25, and Roberto Lopez, 24, were from San Diego, as were those injured in the single-vehicle accident, Earl Jones, 21, Juan Mercado, 37. Jose Angulo, 21, and Sean Goodman, 21, both of Chula Vista, also were in the van and injured.

Lopez said the men were working for an alarm company in San Diego and were on their way to the Imperial Valley to install an alarm.

Allen was wearing a seat belt, as was Mercado. The rest of the passengers were not.

Jones and Angulo suffered major injuries while Goodman suffered minor injuries and Mercado had moderate injuries. All four were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.

A representative of the hospital said Thursday that Jones was transferred to the University of California San Diego Medical Center and the other three were treated and released.

No information on the condition of Jones was available this morning.
