Steps of Success ends year with cooking show

August 25, 2001|BY JENNIFER RALTON-SMITH, Staff Writer

BRAWLEY — Participants in the Steps of Success video production class rounded out the end of their course on Friday by hosting and taping their own cooking show.

An appreciative audience watched the taping of the show and were then treated to a bowl of chef Andrew Taylor's "Chinese Chicken."

Taylor, 18, of Calipatria, was ably assisted by Krystal Hernandez, 17, of Niland and Ariel Casillas, 17, of Brawley. Together they demonstrated their culinary skills in the 20-minute presentation videotaped by Emilio Aguilera, 16, of Calipatria.

The students were part of a class of 12 learning the art of film production under the direction of Steve Mellow, a local TV production instructor. The highly popular "IV TV Kids News" program seen locally on KYMA Channel 11 is produced by Mellow's students.
