Suspects, cop: Same name, no relation

An El Centro man was arrested Friday on suspicion of committing mayhem against his brother, while another El Centro man was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony burglary at Kmart.

Victor Manuel Núñez, 30, was arrested on the mayhem charge against his brother, Jorge.

According to El Centro Police Officer Victor Núñez, no relation, Victor Manuel Núñez apparently got into a confrontation with his brother, and had a knife.

"He bit his brother," Officer Núñez said.

According to the Sheriff's Office log, only one person was injured. The logs say the injuries include a possible broken left index finger and cuts.

The fracas reportedly occurred about 10:37 p.m. in the 800 block of El Centro Avenue.

Victor Manuel Núñez is being held in county jail on $35,000 bail.

In the burglary case, Victor Núñez, 20, also no relation, was arrested at about 7:50 p.m. Friday for petty theft at Kmart.


Officer Núñez said a felony could be charged if there was a prior crime.

Victor Núñez is being held on $10,000 bail at county jail.
