Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary at Fourth and Main streets in El Centro for Fern Marie Louellen Shaw Eugenio, 73, who died this morning in her El Centro home after a six-month illness.

Born Nov. 29, 1927, in Pritchett, Colo., Mrs. Eugenio moved to California in 1942. She married John Rosete Eugenio on Feb. 25, 1944, in Lordsberg, N.M. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1992.

She lived in Niland from 1942 to 1968 and in 1968 moved to El Centro, where she last resided. She was homemaker whose hobbies included upholstery and playing bingo.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rebecca Jean Eugenio, on Jan. 31, 1952, and by seven brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, John and Valerie Eugenio of Spring Valley; Joann Almueti of Carson City, Nev.; Gloria Eugenio-Tait and Robert Tait of El Cajon; Tina Limos of Carson City; Arthur Eugenio of Ione; Robert and Debi Eugenio of Camarillo; Carol and Kurt Howard of Yakima, Wash.; and Dan and Nicki Eugenio of El Centro; brothers, Onie Lavine Shaw of Canadian, Okla., and Clarence Miller-Shaw of Graham, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Imperial Valley, 563 Main St., El Centro, CA 92243.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Rosalva E. Hashem, 77, of Calexico, who died Sunday in Alvarado Hospital in La Mesa. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico with the Rev. Edmundo Zarate officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mrs. Hashem was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico.

She lived in the Imperial Valley for more than 50 years and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hashem, in 1983.

Survivors include her son, William Hashem of San Diego.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Mary L. Adams-Searl, 55, of El Centro, who died of a lengthy illness Monday in Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley. The Rev. Thomas Charlton will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Adams-Searl was born June 18, 1946, in Wyatt, Mo.

She came to the Imperial Valley in 1955 and attended local schools, graduating from Brawley Union High School in 1964.

Survivors include her husband, Troy Searl of El Centro; daughter, Shara Searl of Fort Arthur, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and David Hall of Brawley and Donna and Todd Hogan of El Centro; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Cindy Adams of Las Vegas; brother, Billy Adams of El Centro; and three nieces and one nephew.
