Winter softball league sign-ups

Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Games will start Sept. 18. For more information call George Moses at 352-6551.

El Centro Soccer Club


The El Centro Soccer Club will have sign-ups from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 1225 Main St. Suite B in El Centro. The registration fee is $45 and forms submitted after Sept. 9 will be charged a $10 late fee. A birth certificate or other proof of age is required. Dove hunters barbecue

The 17th annual Rio Bend carne asada dinner for dove hunters will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Rio Bend RV Resort. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 10.


Imperial Valley BMX

Imperial Valley BMX will have practice from 7 to 8 tonight at the BMX track near Seeley. Sign-ups for Saturday's race will begin at 5 p.m.

Carnival cancelled

The Imperial High School football carnival scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.

BUHS football season tickets available

The Brawley Union High School Athletic Boosters have reserve section tickets available for the 2001 Wildcats football season.

Blue and gold cards also are available for gym events. Football tickets are $40 and include admission to five games and membership.

Punt, Pass and Kick

The Imperial County Sheriff's Activities League is sponsoring the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition at 7 a.m. Sept. 15 at Southwest High School in El Centro. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15. Entry forms are available at local Sheriff's Office stations as well as Driscoll's Sports in El Centro. The SAL also is looking for coaches for its upcoming flag football season. For more information on coaching call 339-0113.

Flag football sign-ups

The Brawley Police Activities League is accepting registration forms for the upcoming NFL youth flag football league. Registration forms can be picked up at the Brawley Police Department or at the Lions Center Parks & Recreation office. Registration deadline is Sept. 10 and the league is free to Brawley residents. Coaches are being sought for the league. For more information call 344-8464.
