PALO VERDE — A Mohave Valley woman was killed and a San Diego man was arrested for allegedly operating a watercraft while under the influence of alcohol after two boats collided on the Colorado River near here Sunday.

The woman, Lari Jo Kidd, 45, was a passenger in one of the boats when the collision occurred five miles south of Walter's Camp.

Kidd was killed when she was struck by a boat reportedly operated by Bryan Whittenberg, 31, of San Diego. She died at the scene.

Others in the boats suffered minor injuries, but there was no specific information available this morning on the injuries.

The collision occurred as the two boats were heading in opposite directions about 3 p.m.

Sheriff's Chief Deputy Coroner Sgt. Rick Macken said the boat operators tried to take evasive action, but the boats turned into each other.
