ECRMC seeking summary budget report approval from City Council

September 05, 2001|By RUDY YNIGUEZ, Staff Writer

The El Centro City Council will be asked tonight to approve the 2002 budget summary report for the El Centro Regional Medical Center.

The hospital projects net operating revenues at $55.2 million and total operating expenditures at $54.4 million, for a net operating income of $776,912. Add $871,370 in investment income and the hospital projects $1.65 million in revenues above expenses.

The council meets in open session at 6:30 p.m. at 1275 Main St.

The council is also scheduled to again discuss the potential awarding of a $634,712 consulting agreement for the design and engineering of the city's master bicycle plan.

The council was told at a previous meeting that the city would obtain grant moneys to pay for the design, engineering and construction of the interconnecting, 34-mile bike path. The city reportedly already has $1.6 million toward the effort.

In other business, the council:

· will discuss a seven-year, $600,000 lease/purchase agreement for 25 vehicles. The city has set aside $100,000 in the current year's budget for the agreement. The city would pay an annual percentage rate of 4.63 on the $600,000 to the Maryland-based SunTrust Leasing Corp.

· will discuss approving water and wastewater rate studies at a combined cost of $14,575. The studies would be in addition to ongoing water and wastewater master plan updates.

Sitting as the city's Redevelopment Agency board, the council will discuss a recommendation to reject all bids related to the revitalization of downtown parking lots and installation of parking lot shading. According to a staff report, only one bid was submitted on time for the parking lot work, while four bids for the shading project were considered too high.
