Brawley woman rolls vehicle, arrested on suspicion of DUI

IMPERIAL — A 29-year-old Brawley resident was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday after she rolled her vehicle near here.

According to a California Highway Patrol press release, Leonor Mercado was driving her vehicle north on Highway 86 just south of Austin Road around 7:34 a.m. when the accident occurred.

Mercado was allegedly intoxicated, allowing her car to drift off the roadway, then losing control and rolling, the Highway Patrol reports.

Her vehicle came to rest on the left lane of northbound 86.

Mercado suffered only minor injuries, including a contusion to her left hand and scrapes.

She was wearing her seatbelt, the Highway Patrol states.

Bail information on Mercado wasn't available this morning.
