IID to discuss a new full-time assistant to G.M.

The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors will discuss the possibility of hiring a new full-time assistant to the general manager at Tuesday's meeting.

The board meets in open session at 5 p.m. at 1285 Broadway, El Centro.

The district's current special assistant to the general manager's office is Arn Lahde, whose role is reportedly changing.

IID General Manager Jesse Silva said Lahde's work schedule has been reduced to Tuesdays and Wednesdays only through the end of the year.

"Arn went on part-time basis through the end of the year to move on to other things," Silva said Friday. "I'm looking for another assistant."

Silva said Lahde went part-time about six weeks ago.

Silva said the new assistant will do some of the tasks Lahde has performed as well as others. He said the new arrangement is by mutual consent.

A press release issued this morning says Lahde "will shift his role from the day-to-day line management to that of ‘troubleshooter' for issues confronting the operations."

Lahde could not be reached for comment.

The consent agenda includes an energy cost adjustment of $16.40 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours of usage for the month of September.

In other district business, the board:

· will consider approving $212,500 for its share of environmental studies associated with the quantification settlement.

· will consider paying $12,908 in 2001-2002 dues to the California Municipal Utilities Association. The money would come from the power department.

Tuesday's meeting will begin with a service award ceremony.
