September 11, 2001

HOLTVILLE — Two Holtville men allegedly involved in the production of methamphetamine have been booked into county jail with bail set at $100,000.

The men, Luis Alfonso Barajas, 42, of 654 Walnut Ave., and Steven Castro, 40, from 488 Tamarack Ave., were arrested Monday morning by Imperial County Narcotic Task Force agents.

The NTF has shut down 12 methamphetamine labs this year and a number of the 12 have been in the Holtville area.

The agents found the lab after neighbors reported they smelled something suspicious emanating from the residence.
