Eagles improve to 4-0 in tennis

The Southwest High School girls tennis team improved its record to 4-0 with a 15-3 victory over La Quinta High in El Centro on Monday.

Leading Southwest were No. 1 singles player Bianca Bonilla and No. 2 Ashmi Ullal, both winning three sets. No. 3 singles player Judy Hsu added two sets for the Eagles.

The No. 1 Southwest pair of Karelisa Jones and Becky Leone won three sets for Southwest. The No. 2 team for the Eagles, Monnette De La Torre and Kim Slovak, and No. 3 team of Breezy Boniface and Kristina Estrada both won two of three sets.

Southwest will travel to Lakeside to take on El Capitan at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Brawley 17, Coachella 1

COACHELLA — The Brawley Union High tennis team hammered Coachella High 17-1 here Monday to improve its record to 2-2. Brawley will host La Quinta at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.


Coronado 15, Central 3

CORONADO — The Central Union High tennis team lost 15-3 to Coronado High here Monday.Central (1-2) travel to San Diego to take on Francis Parker High at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
