Wildcats win at Yuma 2-1

YUMA — Leighan Sudduth recorded 28 assists, eight kills and six points to lead the Brawley Union High volleyball team past Yuma High 13-5, 15-9, 15-11 here Monday.

Kristen Colace added 17 assists and seven points and Brooke Pace chipped in 16 points for Brawley. Trisha Fleming finished with six kills and three blocks and Kaylin Rubin added four kills and three blocks for the Wildcats.

Brawley (4-0) will compete in the La Costa Canyon Invitational in Carlsbad on Saturday.

La Quinta 3, Southwest 2

The Southwest High School volleyball team blew a two-game advantage to fall 3-2 to La Quinta in El Centro on Monday.

Southwest won the first two games 15-12, 15-12 but lost the final three 7-15, 9-15 8-15.

Leading the Eagles (0-1) in the loss were Jessica Conway with nine points, eight kills and seven blocks and Heather McGuire with five blocks.

Southwest will host Palm Desert at 6 tonight.
