Voice: Now is the time to donate blood

September 13, 2001

As horrific acts of terrorism have befallen Americans in New York, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere, our prayers are not the only thing we as people of the great United States of America can do for these poor souls in need.

We each have to do our part and pull together as a nation in solidarity.

Donations of blood are going to be needed, as they will be depleted. As our nation bleeds, let us bleed for it also.

A community blood donation drive at Pioneers Memorial Hospital is set this week at the following times: 1-7 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. until noon Friday.

All blood types are needed, but O positive and O negative are especially needed. Previous requirements have changed, so previously ineligible people may now be allowed to give. So give!

As President Kennedy once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Please give caringly.

Thank you all!
