Voice: We must never be so lax again

September 13, 2001

In direct regard to the tragic event, the thousands of deaths caused by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, I'd like to make a request to the large number of Valleyites who didn't vote in the last presidential election.

Please don't be discouraged by the chaos of the last election …Vote! … Your voice is your vote.

This national emergency, I feel, would not have happened under a Democratic president. The Republican Party has for years taken money from our defense and even as recently as this week U.S. base closures are being discussed!

This was an organized and very synchronized attack; and now thousands of innocent people are dead and injured. With the new millennium technology and U.S. intelligence this should not have occurred … think about how secure we felt prior to this in our day-to-day life… our freedom threatened in the blink of an eye.

In my opinion, this is an awful wake-up call for all of us. We must become more aware, investigate where our tax dollars "end" up, vote, and never be so lax again that we're "shocked" this type of chaos/disaster could happen to our "home."
