Man stabbed, robbed outside an Eastside El Centro bar

September 16, 2001|By KELLY GRANT, Staff Writer

A man sleeping in his truck behind a local bar was stabbed several times and robbed Saturday morning by a man he did not know.

El Centro police officers are following leads in their continuing investigation into who stabbed 39-year-old Vincent Mousel outside El Rancho Grande in the 400 block of East Main Street.

El Centro police Sgt. Theresa Quinn said Mousel awoke to a male suspect robbing him. The suspect stabbed Mousel multiple times in the stomach and took his wallet.

Mousel was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, where information on his condition was unavailable Saturday.

Quinn did not know immediately what kind of weapon was used in the attack.
