During the Calexico City Council meeting held on Sept. 4, councilman John Renison reported that the city would be talking to Sharp hospital about opening up the Calexico Hospital. Mr. Renison reported that Sharp hospital was "flush with money."
Mr. Renison, I do not know where you got your information but the San Diego Union-Tribune has been reporting that hospital has been closing up shop in the county because they are losing money. Common sense tells me that the Sharp hospital is not about to come to Calexico to lose money.
If you are serious about trying to open up a hospital you had better start working on a new plan and take the following into consideration:
1. A new facility and equipment ($50 million) will be required. Where will this money come from?
2. The hospital will lose $1 million to $2 million a year. Who will pay for this?
