September 16, 2001|By KELLY GRANT, Staff Writer

GLAMIS — California Highway Patrol officers chased a suspected stolen vehicle Saturday morning through Brawley to here before arresting one of the occupants.

A report regarding a possible stolen 1986 Chevy Camaro was broadcast about 5 a.m. by Highway Patrol dispatchers. While traveling south on Dogwood Road north of Harris Road, an officer noticed a vehicle matching that description traveling north on Dogwood.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle but the driver failed to yield to the Highway Patrol vehicle's emergency lights. A pursuit took the vehicles through Brawley and east onto Highway 78.

The chase ended on Ted Kipf Road near Glamis. The occupants exited the vehicle and began to flee.

Officers caught 19-year-old April Johnson of Niland and arrested her on suspicion of auto theft.

The identity of the other two occupants, who were not apprehended, is under investigation.
